With Pride Month on the horizon, we take a moment to look back on a project that holds a special place in our hearts. A few years ago, we had the privilege of collaborating with the esteemed agency 360i to produce and direct a poignant branded documentary. This film shed light on Oreo’s unwavering support for the transgender community, focusing on the vital significance of recognizing and respecting pronouns.
During the vibrant NYC Pride Parade, Oreo set up a booth where they handed out custom-made packs of Oreos, each adorned with different pronouns. Passersby were encouraged to select a pack that aligned with their preferred pronouns, whether it be he/him, she/her, they/them, and beyond.
Being entrusted with the responsibility of telling this story was an incredible honor for us, as it marked Oreo’s initial step into recognizing and supporting the transgender community. Despite the time constraints, we swiftly developed, produced, shot, and delivered this project in less than a week, driven by the passion to make a meaningful impact.
Unfortunately, attacks against the transgender community, particularly transgender youth, persist despite the progress we have made over the years. Discrimination, violence, and legal obstacles continue to jeopardize their well-being. In order to safeguard equal rights for all transgender individuals, it is imperative that we champion inclusivity, advocate for anti-discrimination legislation, ensure affirming healthcare, and nurture empathy within society.
As we approach Pride Month once again, let us remember the importance of standing alongside our transgender friends, family, and community members. Together, we can create a world where everyone is respected, valued, and celebrated for who they are.
